Armstrong's Transparent
Cedar Tone ~ Redwood Tone ~ Natural Tone
PRODUCT DATA SHEET
DESCRIPTION: A one or two coat, high solids pigmented finish made from heavy and light bodied oils designed for application on unpainted wood. Heavy bodied oils provide water repellency. Pigments provide sun protection. Light bodied oils combined with solvent penetrate deep into the wood. Armstrong’s Transparent Wood Stains repel water, add flexibility to the wood and the pigments reflect the sun’s UV rays.
UNIQUE QUALITIES: Armstrong’s formula is a combination of drying and non-drying oils that gives the user two layers of protection with one brush stroke. Armstrong’s Wood Stains have non-drying conditioning oils that separate from the drying side of the formula. These oils penetrate deep into the wood fiber where the wood’s natural oils used to be. This process rejuvenates the wood. The drying oils stay at the surface, lock in the conditioning oils and create a barrier that is dry to the touch. Armstrong’s Wood Stains have only a mild boiled linseed oil aroma and can be applied in the direct sunlight/heat of the day. Should the first coat absorb within 30 – 60 minutes, a second coat can be applied for extra protection.
USE: For all new, old and pressure treated unpainted wood surfaces such as: decks, siding, shakes and shingles, fences and log homes where color retention, water repellency and wood conditioning is the desired goal.
SURFACE PREPARATION: Surface must be clean, dry and free of dust and dirt. Wash surface with Armstrong’s Concentrated Wood Cleaner or pressure wash. Previously stained surfaces should be tested with Armstrong’s Wood Stain prior to an entire application to assure penetration and finish appearance.
APPLICATION: Easy application by brush, roller, garden sprayer or airless spray equipment. Back brushing or back rolling recommended with spray applications. After 24 hours, remove any wet spots with a dry towel. See rag disposal cautions on the can label. Reapply at 2 to 4 year intervals for vertical surfaces and 1 to 3 year intervals for horizontal surfaces, depending upon weather exposure.
CLEAN UP: Clean all equipment with paint thinner. All empty cans must be air dried. Dispose according to state and local regulations.
FLAME RETARDANT OPTON: All Armstrong’s Transparent and Semi-Transparent Wood Stains are also available fortified with flame retardant. These products are designed to help contain flame spread and help reduce fire damage. These are specifically one coat products and will not accept a second coat.
